Our Story
8990 Housing Development Corporation traces its roots back to 1991, when its founders — Luis N. Yu Jr., Mariano D. Martinez Jr., and Januario Jesus G. B. Atencio III — launched Villa Candida, a modest residential project in Cagayan de Oro City. What began as a response to the country's housing gap grew into a nationwide mission: to make decent, quality shelter available to ordinary Filipino wage earners, not just the privileged few.
The company's flagship brand, DECA Homes, was established in 2002 for horizontal subdivisions, and expanded into Cebu, Davao, Pampanga, and Cavite. As demand grew in urban centers where land is scarce and vertical living became the practical choice, 8990 introduced Urban Deca Homes — its medium-rise condominium brand — bringing the same value-for-money housing philosophy to the country's cities. The company later added Urban Deca Towers for high-rise developments and Urban Deca Resorts and Residences for resort-style living, rounding out a full portfolio of housing options for every stage of a Filipino family's life.
In 2013–2014, the company consolidated its various holdings under 8990 Holdings, Inc. and went public with an Initial Public Offering on the Philippine Stock Exchange, cementing its position as a major, credible player in Philippine real estate.
